The Maker
Between fragmentation and reconstruction, ancient forms re-enter the present.
Zhang Jiahao was born in Anshun, Guizhou, in 1994. He graduated from Jingdezhen Ceramic University in 2020 and received his master’s degree from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 2023, studying Chinese sculpture under Professor Li Xiangqun.
Rather than restoring a single imagined original, he rebuilds outline, posture, and structure in ceramic, stone, and metal. In the Ash-Fired Auspicious Elephants series, falling ash, flame marks, and color variation become part of the form, allowing traces of time and new acts of modeling to remain visible together.
