This pure handcrafted half-body sculpture of a rough pottery dog vividly captures the inherent alertness, pride, and playfulness of a Schnauzer through a freehand and highly modern expressionist approach. The artisan selected speckled rough pottery clay rich in mineral iron spots, ingeniously layering black slip and oatmeal-colored clay to create the Schnauzer's classic "salt and pepper" coat. The craftsman meticulously detailed the head, pressing clay to form the iconic thick, "old man" beard and dense eyebrows. Most strikingly, its alert ears are perked up, its small head tilted slightly, and a playful, pink, highlighted tongue peeks out from its mouth. Its moist, jet-black glazed eyes seem to speak, instantly imbuing the cold pottery with the spirit and healing power of life.
