A hand-sculpted elephant supports a round top dish, with its rounded body, broad ears, and pointed hat retaining subtle modeling marks. Rather than being covered with a conventional applied glaze, the surface develops through several days of wood firing as pine ash and flame create oat tones, caramel marks, and fine crystals. A central incense hole allows the piece to alternate between a suitably sized tealight and an incense stick.
